Our Story
Five decades of nurturing artistic talent, preserving cultural heritage, and transforming lives through the power of the arts.
Our History
Founded in 1975 by Marshall L. Davis, Sr., the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center was established with a singular vision: to create a space where African American youth could discover, develop, and celebrate their artistic gifts within the context of their rich cultural heritage.
For 50 years, Miami-Dade families have brought their children to AHCAC for lessons in acting, dancing, singing, music, stage management, costume making, cinematography, and more. What began as a community arts program has grown into one of Miami's most prestigious cultural institutions.
Today, the Center operates as part of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, offering world-class facilities and programs that serve thousands of students annually while maintaining its founding commitment to cultural authenticity and artistic excellence.

To provide high-quality arts education and cultural programming that celebrates African heritage, develops artistic excellence, and empowers youth and communities through transformative creative experiences.
To be a world-class cultural arts center that serves as the premier destination for African and African American arts, education, and cultural preservation in South Florida and beyond.
